Matt Rouch competed in the Vertex Musical Championships on Saturday August 6, 2016 and won "Best In Class" for his performance. For winning, Matt Rouch and his band will be invited back to play an hour set at next year's Vertex Festival. Musicians from all over Colorado as well as Utah, Iowa and other western states were invited to participate in the competition. The categories included DJ's/Producers, Live Loopers, and Strings. Matt participated in the Strings category, along with Matt Rottinghaus a violinist and Annastezhaa a harpist, "Now those two are real string players" Matt said admitting it was very kind of the committee to include him on guitar with two other musicians that play more traditional stringed instruments, "but this was a dream come true, I can't believe it, there were so many great musicians here for this event, it's truly an honor to be selected and I'm already incredibly excited to come back and play next year."
